Life Can Look Fine on Paper and Still Not Feel Right

Maybe something has changed in your relationship, your family or your work. Maybe you're dealing with stress, loss, anger or feeling more disconnected than you used to.

Or maybe nothing is obviously wrong. You just know something feels different.

Real Conversations is a six-week group psychotherapy program for men 40+ who could use somewhere to talk about what's happening, hear different perspectives, and work toward what comes next.

SEE IF REAL CONVERSATIONS IS RIGHT FOR YOU

You Don't Have to Walk In Ready to Tell Your Life Story

Starting group therapy doesn't mean sitting down with a group of strangers and immediately sharing everything that's going on in your life.

You can listen. You can contribute. You can disagree. You can laugh.

There will be enough structure and guidance to keep the conversation useful, while leaving room for what's happening in the lives of the men in the group.

You don't need to have the right words. You just need somewhere to start.

What We Might Talk About

  • Relationships & communication
  • Work, career & what's next
  • Fatherhood & changing roles
  • Stress, anger & the pressure to keep going
  • Loneliness & connection
  • Aging, loss & life changes
  • Purpose & meaning

You don't need to relate to all of these. You just need to recognize some of yourself in them.

How the Program Works

6 WEEKS | 90 MINUTE SESSIONS | VIRTUAL ACROSS ONTARIO | $500
SHOW UP AS YOU ARE

SHOW UP AS YOU ARE

You don't need to know exactly what you want to talk about or have the right words when you arrive. You can listen until you're ready to join the conversation.

THE GROUP SHAPES WHERE IT GOES

THE GROUP SHAPES WHERE IT GOES

Some weeks may focus on relationships, work or family. Others might move toward stress, loss, anger or connection. What matters to the men in the group helps shape the conversation.

Who's Guiding the Group?

Meet Todd, RP

The conversation may feel relaxed, but it's professionally guided.

I'm Todd Peat, a Registered Psychotherapist with more than a decade of experience in mental health, including frontline work, clinical leadership and psychotherapy.

I've spent a lot of that time talking with people who are dealing with things that don't always fit neatly into a diagnosis or a single problem.

My role in Real Conversations isn't to tell you what your life should look like or simply sit back and listen.

I'll ask questions, offer perspective, help keep the conversation useful, and make sure there's room for different experiences and points of view.

You bring what's happening in your life. I'll help guide where the conversation goes.

Questions You Might Have

Do I have to talk about personal things in front of the group?

You decide what you're comfortable sharing. You can listen, contribute when you're ready, and choose what you want to talk about. There's no expectation that you tell your whole story or share something before you're ready.

What if I've never been to therapy before?

That's completely fine. You don't need any previous experience with therapy or group therapy. Todd will explain how the group works and help guide the conversation.

Is this just for men who are going through a major crisis?

No. Some men may be dealing with a significant change or challenge. Others may simply know something feels different and want somewhere to talk about it. You don't need to arrive with a diagnosis or one clearly defined problem.

What if I don't have much to say at first?

That's okay. Listening is participating too. You can take some time to get comfortable with the group before deciding how much you want to contribute.

Is what I share confidential?

Yes. What you share in the group is treated as confidential. Everyone who participates will be asked to respect the privacy of the other members and not share what is discussed outside the group. As with individual psychotherapy, there are some legal and professional limits to confidentiality, and we will review these together before the group begins.

How many men will be in the group?

The group will be intentionally kept small ( 4 to 12 participants ) . The goal is to have enough people to bring different experiences and perspectives into the conversation, while keeping it focused enough so that  everyone has the opportunity to  be heard.

What happens after the six weeks?

The group is designed as a six-week program, so there is no expectation or obligation to continue afterward. Near the end, we'll talk about where things stand and what might be helpful moving forward. For some men, six weeks may be exactly what they needed. Others may want to continue with individual therapy, another group, or simply take what they've learned and move forward on their own.
